Speeches of HH Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji – Datta Kshetra Yatra 2025 – Divya Nama Sankeertana – SGS Ashrama, Vijayawada, AP – January 1, 2025

What is the total count of the year 2025? 9. That represents completeness. That means, it will be a good year.

We’ve already had 5120 years per Krishna’s time. The English calendar has a little over 2000 years. Parikshit implemented our calendar widely. We saw recently on TV that the fossilized wheel of Karna’s chariot was found. That is a piece of our history. Dwaraka too was submerged in the sea. Some relics, including the chambers of Sri Krishna, have been excavated. This is Itihaasa – history.

Sri Krishna is our Jagadguru who taught us the Bhagavad Gita. His song, His words – the Bhagavad Gita – should be learned by everyone.

Our calendar has started since Kaliyuga has started. I explained it a few days ago. The rest of the faiths came later. Our Hindu faith started around the Sindhu river, and due to that, came the name Hindu. Then, there was only the faith of humanity. Then, out of selfishness, we went so far as to say God does not exist and we began converting freely to other faiths.

So, everyone in Bharat, regardless of what faith they are in, are Hindus. They converted as they wished. Each one went to a different shop and adopted a different faith. It is just as some like music, some like fights, some like binging, some others like studying, some like blaming others constantly, etc.

Bharat used to extend as far as Afghanistan, Iran, Thailand, etc. That was Akhand Bharat. These are not made-up stories. This is our history. According to history, the first faith is Hinduism. Everyone in the land of Bharat is Hindu, they just broke into various parties (faiths) due to infighting between brothers.

Ganapati is being described in the Yogic method. From Mooladhara to Sahasrara, Ganapati manifests in various ways. He is in our body. Ganapati Shakti is in our body; without that we cannot even breathe.

Omakra Swarupa is Ganapati. He is the sound of Om. He is the chief of the panchabhootas. He is the form of each of the elements. Before any puja, or vrata, before studying Bhagavad Gita, we worship Ganapati. Hence Swamiji always starts with Sri Ganeshaya Namaha, Sri Sarasvatyai Namaha….

Sri Saraswati is to enable us to speak. Sri Pada Vallabha is the superior one among Gurus, who again came as Narasimha Saraswati…in both forms He did some tasks, but did not complete His mission. He is now currently undertaking much of that mission; you know what that incarnation is. There may be some future incarnations we do not know.

We are praying to the Guru’s Guru – Lord Datta – with our daily prayer of Sri Ganeshaya Namaha, Sri Sarasvatyai Namaha, Sri Pāda Vallabha Narasimha Sarasvati, Sri Guru Dattatreyāya Namaha.

We should chant Datta Stava while eating, for food to be absorbed well. It is better to sit down and eat. In temples, it may be okay to stand and eat, there may not be enough space. But at home, you must not stand and eat. You must always sit and eat. Sitting on chairs and dangling the legs down while eating will cause knee aches and will also cause more belly fat.

Faith is important. God protects us in any form. There is a small story from Brahmanda Purana.

O Jaganmata, You are the form of Svaha in Yajnas (we chant “Svaha” during Yajnas), you are Svadha in Pitru karmas (Where ancestors accept our offerings). You are Jnana Jyoti. To protect all worlds, you incarnated on Earth. Krishna says that all incarnations on Earth are Mother’s. Saluting those incarnations, we bow to Mother who is always immersed in protecting Her children.

This story is from the Puranas. There used to be a village near a river. People lived there in peace and unity. In that village was a Devi Temple. Every day, they would go and pray there, do processions, etc. They also respected the priest.
Many come pray to God, but don’t regard the priest. If you give the priest some dakshina, they’ll bless you well. In Konaseema, they revere priests a lot. I hope that happens here too.

Once there were very heavy rains and the houses were submerged in the water. Then, everyone in the village set out from that place to a place of higher elevation. An elderly man came running toward the temple and asked the priest: Please come with us, water levels are rising, it has already reached the temple steps, it is very dangerous, lives will get lost. We do not like you to be alone here.

The priest peacefully said: Do not worry about me. Mother, who I worship daily, will protect me. You go on.
After some time, the waters rose to the waist-level. The priest was continuing to do japa and praying to Mother. A horse wagon came by and asked the priest to join them. The priest said Mother alone would protect him. He insisted on staying in the temple.

After some time, the waters rose to the neck-level. A few passing by in a boat saw the priest there and pleaded with him to go with them, saying he would not live if he continued to stay there. The priest refused, saying, Mother would protect him. The waters rose to the priest’s nose. The entire temple was filled with water. He continued to insist that Mother would protect Him.

He then got an idea and climbed up the temple tower. He was very happy that Mother gave him this idea. The waters kept rising. Gusts of wind were cold and severe. Everyone had left by then. He was alone. He prayed: Mother, I broke so many coconuts for you, I offered you flowers, I offered you so many camphor aratis, I gave you pongal and kesari naivedya (did Mother eat any of these?), why are you not coming to protect me? You must protect me! He cried loudly to Mother.

Mother appeared: You fool, an old man came running to you, that was Me, but you refused. I sent you a horse wagon. Have you ever seen a horse wagon in your village before? No! But you did not think of that. I sent a boat, and you refused to recognize Me again. You know I will not appear with the red sari and multiple arms. I showed you so many ways to get saved, but you refused.

The priest immediately realized his mistake. He had never before seen that old man who first approached him. He had never seen a horse wagon in his village before. That boat too was sent by Mother. But he was expecting to see Mother in the form that the moorti was in.

Mother vanished. The priest was falling down. After some time, a small boat went by and they said they could take him to safety. The priest wanted to take away the silver cast on the temple tower and then come to the boat. The boatman said that the weight of the silver would sink the boat and asked him to leave everything behind.

So, when it’s a time of crisis, for example during an emergency plane landing, we should leave everything behind and leave the plane and save our lives. It is okay to leave passport and other valuables behind because it is important to save lives first.

Devi is Mother. She is always guarding us. She teaches us lessons and cautions us ahead of time. But if we disregard those lessons and do as we wish, we will suffer. Many people do not listen to My advice, but some people will insist on going forward with their foolish ideas and will suffer.

Swamiji gives so many hints via AppJi, SGS Posts, through neighbors, etc. You must pay attention.

Everyone must get SGS Posts app and follow the wisdom there.

Bhajan ID 590: jaya jaya marakata rājēśvarī!

We are now installing a new Datta moorti here.

Bhajan ID 84: tan sē, man sē, vacan sē

With mind, body and words, we prostrate to Bhagavan. In Sashtanga namaskara, we prostrate to God completely. Women bow on their knees. With hands, we worship, with bhajans, we sing His praises, with our mind, we worship Him. That is the purpose of this composition.

We are doing re-consecration of that Datta in this Ashrama.

We are also changing the Shiva Linga that has been getting drenched in water for a long time here.

Bhajan ID 2224: śivāśivā sadāśivā bhavā bhavā bhavōdbhavā

Bhajan ID 8626: rāma rāma rāmayanucu epuḍu palukumī!

This Bhajan says you have to chant the name of Rama from now itself when you are fit and sound. Don’t lament “ayyo rama” later; now when you are able to and are strong, chant the name of Rama.

Bhajan ID 1022: mārutirāyā balabhīma

Bhajan ID 1124: aruṇa kiraṇa kānti mārutī
